S.M. Gray is a small-town Canadian author. By day she works as a psychotherapist, and she moonlights as a voracious key-clacker in her free hour before bed. She holds master’s degrees in Sociology and Psychology which inform her writing. Her stories are written character first, world second, though she's often praised for her worldbuilding.

Gray began writing in 2004 on the now defunct fictionpress.net and its cousin, fanfiction.net. From there she moved to Archive of our Own where she still regularly writes for fandoms like Gundam, Supernatural, Jujutsu Kaizen, and the Hunger Games. Despite being deep in the throes of motherhood she continues to write for escape - once her family is sleeping, there's no where she'd rather be than Serica.

The first iteration of Blood in the Azure was born in 2004, and she's happy to finally do it justice with a complete overhaul twenty years later. Read the full back story!

Gray lives in small-town New Brunswick with her husband, two young children, and sugar-sweet cat. She prefers using a pen name to keep her writing separate from her role as a therapist and business owner - and her hopes to one day publish nonfiction in psychology. Despite being in a heteronormative relationship, Gray continues to identify as a queer person and has been a longtime member of her local queer community.
